HCA 23: ALF Assisting Resident with Self Administration of Medication
Many states have developed standards for the unlicensed staff person in the ALF to assist medically stable residents with the self-administration of medications. Part 1 of this program explains and demonstrates the proper procedure for assisting with self administration of medications, and how the unlicensed staff person can assist with this procedure. The medications the unlicensed staff person cannot assist with are also reviewed. In Part 2 of this program, the various methods of medication administration will be demonstrated. Also included will be examples of medication observation records and how the unlicensed staff person will use this important document. 50 minutes

This program will give demonstrations for lateral transfers/repositioning, lifting, ambulating, bathtub-shower and toileting activities, lifting from the floor, guiding and slowing falls, daily activities, and bedside assistance. 25 minutes
