I have always heard about “endorphins kicking in” when people exercise, I’m still waiting! Maybe I have a shortage of endorphins but whatever the case, most people enjoy exercise because of the endorphin high. Researchers have now identified even more benefits to exercising that may encourage everyone to get out of the office for 30 minutes!

In a recent study of people with a diagnosis of depression, researchers found that a mere 30 minutes on an exercise bike in the afternoon resulted in improvement immediately after the session. The sessions were not strenuous but were aerobic in nature, beginning with a 5-minute warm-up and working at 80% of the individual’s anaerobic threshold for 30 minutes.

Seriously, take 30 minutes for yourself every day, take a bike ride, take a walk that gets your heart rate up, or if you are really active, a 30-minute jog/run? Feeling a little blue recently? Give this a try, it might make your day a little brighter and decrease the number of “down” minutes in your life! Stay well, stay informed, and stay tuned!
