Moderate to Vigorous Exercise

Angie SzumlinskiHealth, News, Studies

I know what you are thinking, but I’m not going to harp on you to run a marathon, I’m truly not, HOWEVER…..did you know that approximately 110,000 deaths per year in the United States could be prevented if adults aged 40 to 85 years or older increased their moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) by about 10 minutes per day? I know, it sounds crazy, but a study was conducted and published in JAMA that found this to be true!

So, what does that mean to you? Maybe nothing, maybe you are already in that group of people who engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity on a regular basis and if so, good for you! If you are in the group of people around the country who tend to lead sedentary lifestyles, it might be worth taking a look at this study.

Remember, you don’t have to run that marathon unless you choose to however, you are the only one that can change YOUR lifestyle and enjoy a longer, healthier life. Now get off the couch, push the potato chips away, dust off the treadmill and jump on! Who knows, you may even feel better afterward!

Stay the course, stay informed, and stay well!
