Respiratory Viruses and You

Angie SzumlinskiNews

Ugh, the flu season, it is back and predicted to be a more difficult year due to last year being relatively mild. If you have never had the flu, trust me, you don’t want to experience it. The body aches, fever, chills, sore throat, cough, difficulty breathing, oh and don’t forget the possible GI symptoms some people experience! Sounds great, doesn’t it?

The good news, if there is any, is that influenza, RSV and COVID vaccines are available and in abundant supply right now. Another bit of good news is that you can get these vaccines at the same time! The CDC has found that there is no contraindication in receiving them together. However, the CDC does recommend the vaccines be given in different locations of the body (both arms, etc.) so yes, you will have some discomfort, but it will be worth it, I promise!

So, talk to your primary care doc or simply call your local pharmacy, most are ready and willing to give you a poke! Stay well, stay informed and stay tuned!
