I know what you are thinking, seriously, another blog on facemasks? Yep! Honestly, we can’t say enough about the importance of facemasks! Adding to the debate, we are now finding that the facemasks we are using may not be effective!

A recent publication in Medscape Nurses identifies that all facemasks are NOT equal, varying greatly in efficacy and comfort. The article provides current information on the most commonly used face coverings along with their relative benefits and limitations.

Take a few minutes to read this interesting publication, look at the photographs, discuss these findings with your families, staff, and residents. The goal, of course, is to prevent the spread of infection by spreading the word on the most current recommendations! Stay well, stay safe, and stay tuned!
