Staffing is significantly challenging during this time. There are several examples where our team has ventured outside of their normal daily routines to ensure that our residents are cared for and our staff know that they are appreciated. A handful of our administrative staff have forgone their business casual attire to don scrubs. While these individuals have maintained active nursing assistant certifications, it has been several years since they have provided direct patient care for some of them. Nevertheless, they have staffed shifts in an effort to assist with continuous patient care. Our nursing leadership team ordered t-shirts for all staff with the logo “I AM ESSENTIAL”. Our team members showed a great level of appreciation for this. We also took portraits of our residents that were willing to participate. We sent those photographs to their family member as a way of communicating their well-being while we have restricted visits to the facility. We have adjusted to a new normal. It is because of our staff that we are providing consistent care during this pandemic.
