Whew, great news, right? Even better news? Yes! Researchers have found that one month after receiving a seasonal flu vaccine, individuals exhibited increased levels of cross-protective neutralizing antibodies against H5N1 Seasonal Flu Shot: Shield Against Avian Influenza Pandemic?. The study suggests that during the early stages of an avian influenza virus pandemic, the best vaccination strategy would likely involve first getting the seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine, followed by an avian influenza virus-specific (AIV) vaccine or an H5N1-specific vaccine once available.
