I Knew That!

Hooray! Finally, some good news on coffee consumption! So many things today are labeled “bad for you” and coffee has historically been one of them! However, a recent study found that coffee consumption of 0.5 to 3 cups per day was associated with a 21% lower risk for stroke, a 17% lower risk for death from cardiovascular disease, and a 12% lower risk for death from all causes!

So, who knew?! Now, for those of you who enjoy your java, let’s be clear on what this study means. It DOESN’T mean a venti latte with extra pumps and whipped cream or even a pumpkin spiced latte. When researchers refer to coffee, they mean plain, black java. The real thing. The truth be told, not many of my friends and family drink black coffee, at a minimum they splash some Coffeemate in it, right?

Will this study put Starbucks and Dunkin out of business? Probably not, especially in the fall when the Pumpkin Spice Latte comes out! I guess there is good and bad in everything including coffee and I always say “moderation”, if you don’t over do it you can pretty much eat and drink whatever makes you happy. Stay well, stay informed and stay tuned!
