Ganton Senior Communities (Battle Creek, MI)

Many senior living communities are coming up with creative ways to keep their inter-generational connections strong during this time. Our feautured HealthCap Hero, the team at Ganton Senior Communities in Battle Creek, MI, is making it a top priority to keep kids engaged with their residents! Many residents at this facility and local students read together throughout the year, and since they are unable to read together in person, the Life Enrichment Team decided to record residents reading children’s books. The videos were posted their Facebook page and shared with the school groups. The feedback was wonderful! Not only were the students overjoyed to be read to by the residents that they have missed dearly, but an added blessing was how thankful the families were to see their loved one reading a children’s book. One resident read, “Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You”; and his daughter who lives in another country said, “Oh my! Comfort to my soul”. Another residents’ granddaughter said “Saved for my eventual grandkids!”. These videos will be forever cherished by families and students. Thank you to Ganton Senior Communities and all of our HealthCap Heroes who are finding unique ways to fill their facilities with joy!
